She aims to take us through rotary cutting methods, and Getting to know your machine for Patchwork on the Friday – although if you need a refresher on Saturday she will oblige I'm sure!!.

On this class we will construct 12” Sawtooth Star blocks that incorporate various smaller 6” blocks using different techniques In construction: partial seams, strip piecing, sew and flip and more.....

Demonstrations of the techniques. Bring along a range of light ,medium and dark fat quarters including those remnant pieces of your favourite fabrics in your favourite colour combination and create a one of a kind traditional heirloom quilt or make three or four blocks into a table runner. Friday 11th OR Saturday 12th June PATCHWORK - TURNING TWENTY QUILT

Welcome to Linda for her second workshop of the year. With a little preparation before the class you can quickly accomplish this quilt – the idea is that you turn twenty fat quarters into a quilt measuring 70” x 86” or 82” x 96” with final 6 ½” border. Use up 20 of your fat quarters, you will be amazed at the result or base your quilt on tones of one colour; seasonal idea – Christmas fabrics; all batiks; novelty theme fabrics.....you'll be amazed, don't miss it. Bring your rotary cutting equipment and check you have a sharp blade.

Friday 16th OR Saturday 17th July PATCHWORK - AUTUMN LEAVES

Linda's third visit covers the subject of reverse appliqué. If you are new to patchwork, this is not difficult – you will just need to know a few things which Linda will demonstrate at the class. If you are more experienced, then bring along your hand-dyed fabrics, paint sticks and transfoils too! Have plenty of fabrics to mix together, delve into your scraps- no less than 7” x 5”, bring a variety of threads for machine quilting and make a colourful cushion in this technique or maybe table mats, a table runner or unique wallhanging! Small sharp embroidery scissors a must!

Friday 10th OR Saturday 11th September PATCHWORK - SEWING ROLL

Linda’s next visit for the year will enable you to make a Heirloom Sewing Roll & Pincushion. Using Osnaburg – a linen type fabric along with scraps of favourite linens, silks etc… make this useful sewing roll in a scrap patchwork technique. Finish with machine quilting and applied braids. Plenty of internal pockets to store your sewing goodies or even your own jewellery. Neat heart pincushion to co-ordinate.

For the final workshop of 2010 Linda will come up with some different ideas ensuring another interesting day.

----------------------------------

In advance I would like to thank the tutors for agreeing to come to the shop, some may only travel a few miles but others come hundreds of miles to impart their particular speciality to us. I do hope you will offer your support again this coming year.

The fee for this year will remain at £20 for the Whitework and Beading courses but where a sewing machine or more space is required to enable me to cover expenses it will be necessary to charge £25 payable on booking or by instalments if you are attending several courses.  I still feel that this is very good value for money as many of the tutors are highly trained and skilled ladies. (If you have paid and find yourself unable to attend if your place can be filled from a waiting list then only a £10 administration fee will be charged & a refund made for the remainder).  An additional fee for materials may be made on the day, which will depend on what is required but will be kept to a minimum by the tutors and myself.

Tea/coffee and biscuits will be provided throughout the day, but please bring along your own sandwiches for lunchtime.

I look forward to receiving your booking, which will be done on a first come basis and will be limited to 12 per workshop (8 if sewing machines are required). So book early to avoid disappointment. I shall be holding a waiting list for each date so that if someone is ill or cannot make the day I shall phone people from the list.

A booking form can be obtained by clicking here or going to the Workshop menu item.
